Malaan Ex Apotheosis

This is a D&D3E game using the Elements of Magic spell rules.

Location:

The island of Enlieu, once the site of an ancient settlement of refugees from the Mortality Wars. This small island contains an unusual mix of races and cultures. The large island is located just off the western coast of the Low Kingdoms (once the Kingdom of Uruhr). Fishing is its primary industry, but by and large it is independent of most other areas doing little trade except for occasional worked goods.

The Beginning:

It is the year 18, or 267 depending on how you count. You were born during the year of Apotheosis, the end of the fifth age, the beginning of a new one. Your auspicious birth was marked on your body in the form of an unusual white birthmark. This birthmark was noted by a few strangers, some like pilgrims coming hundreds of leagues just to view them, others like inquisitors subjecting you to all manner of tests before grudgingly moving on. But nothing unusual came of until just recently. A week ago, or maybe two, you were pulled from your home under cover of darkness. In the chaos you thought you spied the concerned look of a parent passive throughout the ordeal. You were dragged blindfolded from the safety of your village into the wilds that surround it, the wilds you had only plumbed the edges of in search of adventure as a youth. You were fed surprisingly well, so well indeed that you feared you were being fattened up for some monsteržs feast. That suspicion has yet to be disproved. When you reached your destination you found yourself bound, deep in some ransacked barn. The sickening smell of soured milk and rotten flesh assails you. The walls lit only by the moon glow reveal strange sigils, familiar and yet indecipherable to you. You are not alone, in what must be the stalls of stables you hear the plaintive cries of others here with you. Are they also prisoners?
