Chandra

The Republic of Chandra is ruled by a two tiered system. The Republican Senate sets policies, makes treaies, imposes taxes etc.. The will of the Senate is executed by the Ministries of the Republic. Most inquiries, other than treaties and such should be directed to one of these ministers.

  • Minister of Aquaducts: (Trade, Water, Food Production/Sales/Purchases)
  • Minister of the Harbor: (Shipping, Naval Operations, Fishing)
  • Minister of Defense: (Military Leadership, Civil Defense, City Guard, Law and Order)
  • Minister of Roads: (Building/Construction, Land Purchasing, Public Lands)
  • Minister of Standards: (Treasury, Guild relations, Titles)
  • Advisor on Sorcery: (Magical lore, Witchking watch)
  • Health Advocate: (Plague watch, Death Marshall)
  • Public Advocate: (Representative of the unlanded, peasant and worker class)

Ambassador (Adjunct) to Fey Por: Liesbet Anlaan (alexis.dinno#yale.edu)
Not well known outside of Chandrian political circles, Ambasador Anlaan serves as a voice of clarity and conduit of aged (sexagenarian) wisdom to those who make foreign policy decisions in the great Fey Porian city. Despite the potential influence of her positon, she has not apparently promoted the agenda of any one of the city's political bulwarks over another. A city-educated woman from a well-off rural landed family, Ambasador Anlaan has observed Chandra under the reign of Illthaut and wards, the end of the Deh'Wherri Fey Porian crusades and the birth of the new Republic. Socialite gossip reports that she is a keen observer and sharp listener among the political set

Senator of Chandra: Dento (bsanders#ctaz.com)
Senator Dento grew up in the slums of the great City, apprenticed as a Teamster, and won great fame as the youngest driver to master the elephant teams which haul timber from the north. By his early twenties he had accumulated enough wealth to own several such teams and purchase some land near the timberfields, where he now maintains a small estate and raises elephants for breeding. He has often decried the shoddy condition of the roads and canals, and feels there is much profit to be made by extending and improving them. He greatly distrusts magic users, one of whom allegedly "cursed" one of Dento's favorite elephants, causing it to fly into a berserk rage and destroy a neighborhood before it was captured and put down.

Minister of Aquaducts: Mander Vol
Vol is an ambitious man. It was his actions which turned a relatively unimportant ministry (originally designed to repair the aging aquaducts) into the powerhouse of trade relations and food distribution. He has a small army of clerks, agents and vice-ministers to distribute his power. Vol makes occasional reports to the Senate and reports as they see fit, but in general considers himself the bureacratic ruler of Chandra. Appointments with the Minister are nearly impossible to arrange. Despite Vol's ambition it is rumored that much of his success is due to the support of allies in the Salke clan.

Minister of Harbor: Solo Tradewinds
Tradwinds is famous for being one of the richest men in Chandra, if not all of Malaan. He has an enormous mansion in the Tower district. His appoints to the ministry was a means of insuring his loyalty to the new republic. It is difficult to distinguish his business operations from his duties as a minister as the two often merge into one. He might send his own vessels to pick up grain for the city's stores. To date his actions have not been particularly contrary to the city's best interests. Tradewinds is infamous for his enormous size. He weighs over three hundred pounds and indulges his appetites four or five times a day.

Minister of Defense: Eva Twohands
Eva Twohands is something of a legend in Chandrian society. When she retired from her military exploits some thirty years ago to run a small tavern, her stories and advice were sought time and time again. Now over 80-yrs old her appointment was mostly an acknowledgement of that esteem. She is a conservative leader her goes over military history with her commanders and has a rather academic take on warfare in general. She is open to meeetings with foreign powers, but is loathe to extend Chandra's small military outside the city's limits.

Minister of Roads: Reinhaerdt
It is known to all that Reinhaerdt was formerly the guild master of the Lost Souls guiild of theives (one of Chandra's largest). Despite this, Reinhaerdt is well respected by every level of society in Chandra. During the embargo by the Uruhiran Navy, he was responsible for keeping the lines of commerce open and feeding much of the city. These acts gave him hero status in the city. He is shrewd and innovative. He has managed to generate funds from nowhere to restore the city's parks, roads and monuments. Most would rather not know where this money comes from and rather enjoy the prosperity.

Ministry of Standards: Jogin Demori
This position mostly relevant to the inner development of the city, verifying land titles, insuring tax payments etc.. However one aspect of the ministry of general interest is the verification of Noble titles for old Fey Por. This is Chandra's method of granting land ownership (voting) privileges to those whose identify has been established. Chandra houses records of much of Fey Por and this ministry will take claims from outside the city. Demori is a conscientious bureaucrat, if not a lively one. His efforts are carefully justified and well presented. No one would accuse him of ambition or hubris.

Advisor of Sorcery: Elethil Morsalis
Morsalis was once the only one who the Witchking toleraetd dissent from within the Silk Masks. Perhaps because the Witchking respected his opinions, or perhaps because he did not consider Morsalis a threat. This position is an as needed one, such that Morsalis only deals with those problems specifically of the concern to the Senate. He is considered brave and thoughtful, but patient to a fault.

Health Advocate: Deanae Lodrun
Lodrun is deeply concerned for the welfare of all, including the peasants. Her main efforts have been to establish some form of public health officials who could inspect cases of illness or pestillance. In addition she has been a great supported or increasing the flow of water from the aquaducts directly into the city's canals to wash away waste and refuse. Standing her ground against the powers that be has made her presence unwanted in the Senate. Only her connections with the Healer's Guilds has lkept her in this position.

Public Advocate: Shira Meulusa
Madam and former prostitute. She knows alot about many senators and wealthy. She has never threatened to use the information, but has lately been championing the cause of the poor.Meulusa is well known throughout the city and is frequenly seen passing the hat at various functions, fetes and parties.

Private Individuals of Import

Mumin Salke, local clan head of the Salke clan.
Mumin Salke is a powerful goblin woman with influence in every aspect of life in Chandra. Her legitimate businesses encmpass everything from trade, to manufacturing to food production. She is belived to be extremely careful about stepping on teh wrong toes or burning a bridge she may need in the future.

Losurot'l F'Tah, local clanhead of the F'Tah clan.
Losurot'l is an ambitious young goblin who has been granted considerable slack by his superiors in Barharkaha. He is believed to be very dynamic and courageous, taking risky ventures and sponsoring borderline activities. For his cash cows he allows reliable underlings to operate those aspects of the business and instead focuses his attention on the more dramtic aspects of his enterprises.

Shannamar Lyn,(d4langevin#aol.com)
Shannamar Lyn started life brash, ignorant, stubborn. Has since learned faith and worship with sincere enthusiasm. Known to be one of the few people who could render Javek Kent unconscious with one blow, Shannamar has since forsaken violence as a means to an end. Instead, Legitimate deals should be the currency in which people should trade. His travels with the Mouser Congress have brought insight to other cultures and peoples. He will act to broker any negotiations for those willing to retain his services.

Myrtle Anhkaret,(alexis.dinno#yale.edu)
Ahnkaret is a priestess of Aurloch, the Martyr and god of Kings and Chandra. Known to be one of the famous Mouser Congress, wearer of the Cobalt Cross and a fierce fighter of plagues and extraplanars in Ghetti and Fey Por, she is nevertheless a contraversial figure. Branded outlaw and held in low regard by the clergy of most major religions (for many different reasons), she is still known to help those in need whenever aid is wanted or asked. She was rumored to have been executed after sentencing in Bourgé for crimes against the Deh Wheri church, to have adventured with Javek Kent - former high paladin of Peruul - and with members of most major religions, and to be a former member of the cult of the Dark Brother. She is active in Chandra as a healer and among the artists crowd (a very modest painter is she).

Atokahbachti

Clandish Paekinor Darkeye, Lord of Atokahbachti
Paekinor was a minor warlord in the Sisters of Fire as a youth. His diplomacy and skills at war led him to become one of the most powerful orcs in Fey Por. He united the six tribes of the Pellorian Steppes and took over the small city of Bachti. It was Paekinor who moved for the transition from a nomadic lifestyle to city living for the Orcish people. His rule in Bachti has been described as harsh but fair. His successes in combat are legendary, securing for himself the second largest amount of territory in the Undeclared War (next to the Troll King). He is a large orc who has lost a bit of the muscle he once boasted of, but none of his wile. Paekinor is considered remarkable for his quick acceptance of Human vassals and religions without a fuss. The result of which is that his orcish noble classes have been accepted by most humans in his realm.

Lord Hassan Benard Ellison, Lord of Ellison Manor (kareem#cognex.com)
Hassan is known mainly due to his association with the adventuring group, The Mouser Congress. Though he has literally been to Hell andback with them, it has been only a small part of his life. He has spent most of his life, including his childhood, as part of several different warrior bands in which he learned his trade. This provided him with a great deal of combat experience, but also as a convenient excuse to avoid what seems now the parallel paths of his destiny: a Foe of Folon and the Lord of Ellison Manor. The latter now has especially been his driving interest. His intent is to raise the manor in prosperity, status, and power. He also hopes that this will give him the influence he needs to help others establish a stable government for all of Fey Por.
Hassan is a fairly large man of tremendous strength. With his Dwarvish battle axe, Laufrik, it is clear why his style of combat is very offensive. He is a fearless and honorable warrior, and he loves the fight. His manner is straight forward if not a bit intense and excitable. He despises bullys and cruel leaders, especially those who enslave or unfairly imprison people. On the lighter side, he is a hard drinking carouser.

Thane Vryce s'Kurukti, Lord of Kurukti (chhartle#nmsu.edu)
Vryce s'Kurukti began as child in the care of the College of Magic, taken from his parents at an early age. He recalls little of his former life, but has begun a quest to find his origins. Having risen through the ranks at the College, he found himself separated from the College and in an adventuring party, which came to be known as The Praetorian Guard. Serving with distinction in the Guard, the group came to befriend Count Hassan Ellison. Vryce found himself at a crossroads- he left the College (officially), and left the Guard as well, to accept a grant of land and title from Count Hassan. Vryce dropped his old College-given surname, and not knowing his own family name, took the surname s'Kurukti, from the name of the only major city within his new lands. As a half-orc, Vryce is a rather burly man, which contrasts oddly with his major profession, that of a wizard. In addition, because of his learning and own nature, Vryce seeks to build his lands into a center for learning and culture within Central Fey Por. He is very mild mannered, inquisitive, and slow to anger, speaking with carefully chosen words and speaking only when it is necessary. These features of his personality further clash with his physical apperance.

Mersatokah

Clandish Oroc, Lord of Mersatokah
Clandish Oroc is known as a tough warrior with little time for civil bureaucracy. His capital, Mersey, is run more like a military camp with a few civilians inside. He is a jealous guardian of the power and land he won in the Undeclared War. Still, he maintains his authority almost entirely through the might of his Iron Chain clan. These elite warriors are the match of any in Malaan. They are granted license to do as they please and are given the best equipment, training and lodging. Oroc has been accused of racism as the key positions in his government are maintained by Orcs. He neither denies nor admits this. The impression of most people is that Oroc would rather not be a civilian ruler, but he has little option if he wishes to maintain his lands. Much of the civic duties are distributed to underlings.

The Kingdom of Abatha

The Trollking Yerjin, King of Abatha
The Trollking is well known to be a clever stratagian, tactician and diplomat. He is responsible for unifying and organizing the forces of Fey Por in the Undeclared War. It is unknown what he is like personally since few have had prolonged exposure to him. He demands complete obedience to his wishes and is intolerant of waste or incompetence. While a warlike and aggresive conqueror, he has also implemented extensive plans of land development and infra-structure plans for Abatha. Where desert once stood, now fields produce food, irrigation and roads construction is prominent throughout Abatha. The Trollking grants extensive authority to his Satraps and underlings. Still he also keeps them under his thumb and the presence of the Special Guard shadows everyone of importance in Abatha.

Prince El'shay, Lord of Merusheck
El'Shay is probably the least loyal of the Trollking's minions. His family once ruled Accaulum (Zuridown), yet the war against Uruhr was stopped before he could recover his promised lands. El'Shay was once the primary lobbyist for Fey Porian resistence and rebellion against the Uruhrians before the war. His family also maintained contacts throughout the period after the crusades, making El'Shay's claims to authority the strongest of all the old nobility. El'Shay is ambitious and charismatic. He tests the yoke of the trollking at every oppurtunity. It is unclear why the Trollking tolerates this, except for El'shay's great popularity.

Prince Orly, Lord of Castle Orly
Belio Orly was born into a pirate family of three generations. When the Undeclared War drew his attention he made it his goal to regain his families land. In fact the Orly's once ruled what is now Mersey. But this was not to come to pass after the War. Orly dedicated a fair amount of energy into learning the old ways, the old language and the history of Fey Por before the Crusades. His court is run according to the old rules, and his dress is from the old days. He is closely allied with Prince El'Shay but more grateful to his Troll benefactors. It is believed he still harbors a desire to enter Mersey as its lord.

Emir Abyr, Lord of Abyr Allem
Abyr was the leader of a group of nomadic horsemen, cast off during the crusades. His origins are in the Sand kingdoms to the Northeast (long since lost) but now installed in Abyr Allem he struggles with the role of city ruler. There are many who believe that Abyr was installed simply to iritate Prince Navache who also inhabits Abyr Allem. Abyr is a good strategist and brave man, but his simple justice and one on one style of rule is ill-suited to the demands of a civic leader. Abyr spends much of his time, riding in the hills of the Mons Atarek.

Prince Navache, General of the Abathian Armies
Navache is descended of Fey Porian nobility who were away from their home when the crusades began. As guests in Talis the Navache clan were rescued from the fate most Fey Porian nobility suffered. His homeland, in what is now the Resurrected Lands was destroyed, no record of the cities remains. His family lived for several generations in Talis without returning. When rumors of the war of liberation began Navache lobbied hard in Chandra and elsewhere to build armies. He is one of the few Nobles in Fey Por who has a clear connection to his heritage. He considers himself to have been cheated by the Trollking since he was not given a realm of his own. He bides his time relying on the Trollking's promises of a castle of his own, for now.

The Kingdom of Uruhr

The Kingdom of Urhur is a straightforward Feudal kingdom. Executive powerful rests with King Yassir of the house of Ghetti. It is distributed to various Dukes, Marquises, Counts etc.. The two most prominent lords near Fey Por are the Marquis Hasarin Zanst and Duke Kyle Danfer.

Duke Kyle Danfer, Lord of the North Coast and Zuridown
Duke Danfer is one of the four great Dukes of Uruhr (Kiruni, Lessa and Sanam, the others). He is also the oldest. When his ancestors captured Accaulum from the Fey Porians it was considered quite a coup. On the frontier of this great realm of Fey Por. Over the years it proved a great burden. Despite its ideal location at the mouth of the Zuri river, Zuridown became a thorn in the side of Uruhr for generations. It has be sieged countless times, and despite its complex series of walls and maze-like infra-structure it has be captured a half dozen times requiring re-capture. Kyles Danfer is of the old school military mindset and is very conservative with his people. He has focused on defending and securing his city against all attack and has done little to expand trade or development of the area around Zuridown.

Marquis Hasarin Zanst, Lord of the High Plain
Lord Zanst was once the provisional ruler of Uruhrian South Fey Por, from Missledown (now Merusheck). Under his leadership a string of castles controlled the chaotic and unruly land. He rebuked a number of rebellions and by all measures did admirably to hold his own against overwhelming odds. A cousin and favorite of King Yassir Zanst was not penalized when the city of Missledown was forced to surrender after years of siege. Zanst is ambitious and clearly is out to prove his worth by securing and defending his new lands on the High Plain. Although wild and uncharted this land has little in the way of organized resistance to Uruhrian rule. Still the Trollking lies just across the Zuri river.

Count Teekl Rok, Lord of FarFord Keep(jpjesus5#aol.com)

Viscount Kendra Forwahl, Lady of Summerford Keep
Kendra Forwhal replaces General Davril of the Copper Legion as ruler of Summerford Keep. This is the newest of the Uruhrian River Outposts designed to prevent Fey Porian encroachment across the Zuri. Forwahl is known to be a just and insightful leader. She focuses her attention on the long run and is not known to act spontanteously or out of emotion.

Count Merik Kiruni, Lord of Midgate Castle
The Son of Duke Kiruni, Merik is a young and energetic ruler. Midgate is basically just a keep with a few farms around it, but Kiruni has made considerable effort to enrich the land. Kiruni shares his father's sympathies toward the Fey Porians and has clearly designed the lifestyle around a peaceful co-existence with the Fey Porians across the river. He has already established a permanent ferry service across the river, even though few ever use it. Kiruni is not naive, and he keeps his troops patrolling regularly.

Independent Realms of Fey Por

Open Wound

Guildmaster Ullethay
Mistress Ullethay is the closest thing to a ruler in Open Wound. She is the long-time Guild Master of the Swordsmen's guild. She is a warrior with few equals. Her roots go back to the Sisters of Fire orc clans from which she was born. She is the constant focus of attention by both Oroc of Mersey and Paekinor of Bachti. She rebukes both of them preferring her solitary existence. She has made no effort to exert lordly control over Open Wound (not her style) but often represents the city in negotiations and other dealings. She is inclined to use force and teh threat of force in her dealings with others. As GM of the largest Mercenary Guild and defender of one of the largest guilds of Healers she wields considerable power.

Castle Urik

Lord Baltimon Ehrgrave, Lord of Castle Urik(robbins#activemac.com)
Baltimon Ehrgrave is descended of that noble blood that ruled the region of Arborius before it was conquered by the Urhurian armies in the Ascension Crusades. The surviving nobles were brought back to Uruhr, where they remained as guests of their conquerors, and it was in that foreign land that Baltimon was born. With the recent withdrawal of Uruhr from Fey Por, Baltimon was unexpected given back his birthright.

As Lord Mayor Baltimon is a practical man, well versed in matters of trade and mercantile. Since returning to claim rulership of the new township of Urik, built by the conquerors after the old city was destroyed, he has worked tirelessly to rejuvenate the young city state, attract trade, and fortify the economy.

This tireless labor has added a few gray hairs to his beard and increased the perennial lines of worry that furrow his brow. His distinguished paunch, as befits a man of his age and station, has suffered only marginally from all this hard labor.

Northward

Lord Thurian Draughten, Lord of Northward(CAukerman#classic.msn.com)

Lenos

Prince Illian Al-Etz, lord of Lenos
Al-Etz was know of for years as the 'fugitive prince'. His lineage can be traced to the ancient Emporers of Malaan, a fact not unknown to many would be political rivals. Al-Etz is alleged to have survived countless attemtps on his life often believed to have been killed only to resurface later. Al-Etz was born at Sea abord a ship of the Pirate Nation. He fought in many naval battles as well as in the Undeclared War. Recently he has established a small settlement in the ruins of Lenos, once a capital of Fey Por and Malaan, now a desolate waste. Still there he has a small army and growing community. Al-Etz is believed to be a clever leader and cunning strategist. His belief that it is his destiny to rule Fey Por, and perhaps all of Malaan, makes ambitious seem too mild a word for him. Still his following is amlost fanatically dedicated to him and he has many allies in foreign lands and within many of the realms of Fey Por.

Secretary of the Capital, Archamandrite Uriah Deepspawn (andremarak#hotmail.com)

Ambassador and Envoy, Countess Meara Alhambra (kcorey#thuntek.com)

General Vaera "Sharpshadow" El-Vanos
Believed to be among the most dangerous warriors of all Malaan, Sharpshadow once served as the General of the Witchking's Honor Guard. Vaera is a talented if hot tempered leader. She is extremely strict with her troops, such that even after the war many of them fearing her wrath remained in the ranks until a year or more had passed. She is as beautiful as she is dangerous with fiery red hair and skill in several forms of combat. Had she not been made the general of Honor Guard, she would have likley conquered the Chandrian Gladiator competitiions where she was a favorite. How or when she came to serve the Prince is unknown.

The First College of Magic

Tearence Linder, First Magistar of the College of Magic (pthorne#wenet.net)
The College of Magic is believed to be a neutral body of highly powerful wizards. Their reputation as skilled magicians and ruthless seekers of revenge against any offense follows them. Recently under Magistar Linder's orders the College has softened its image by aiding peoples in peril. Still the college defends its own with extreme force. The College is based on the Isle of Baske just west of Fey Por.

The Unattached

The Witchking Illthaut
Rumored dead, believed immortal, once considered King of Fey Por, also believed to be a chaotic anarchist, The so-called Witchking is something of a mystery. He was a force in Fey Por for fifty years until a year ago. His lieutenents have had such strange forms as a group of vampires known as the Body, an evil paladin known as Tashkent, the Silk Mask Wizard's Guild and others. He usually commanded by proxy in the form of one of his lieutenents or by simulacra. For years, many suspected he was a myth. He is known to have killed or ruined anyone who tried to bring order to Fey Por. This mission led him to join the Fey Porian nationalists against the Uruhrians in the Undeclared War. His Honor Guard (so named because they were not paid, they served for the "honor") was one of the most powerful force fielded against the Uruhrians, but after the armistice and an ill fated attempt to conquer all of Fey Por, he has remained silent, if he still exists. Many would be glad to learn of his death, though few would know such things.
